Feel those 'Burning Sensations'

by: CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - The cast and band of The Burning Sensations, the latest musical comedy from the creators of Hot Flashes, will present their show through Oct. 21 at Portland Metro Arts.Kate Finn and Rick Weiss, the authors/producers of the local musical comedies “Hot Flashes” and “Charles Brown’s Mid-Life Christmas,” present the world premiere of their new musical comedy “The Burning Sensations” through Sunday, Oct. 21.

The show opens at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Portland Metro Arts, 9003 S.E. Stark St. Performances continue at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30; 8 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 6, 13 and 20; and 2 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 7, 14 and 21.

The show is a raucous, racy, rollicking romp, featuring rocking new tunes that include “The Snuggie Song,” “Boomerangs,” “A Hairy Situation,” “Money Shouts” and “There’s No App for That.”

The cast/band features former “Hot Flashes” performers Kate Finn on vocals and several instruments, and funky bass-slingin’ grandma Marvella McPartland, along with popular Portland actress Lisamarie Harrison. The band also includes Rick Weiss on keyboards, Caton Lyles on drums and percussion and Max Key on guitar and trumpet.

Dan Murphy of the Broadway Rose Theatre Company directs and choreographs the show.
