Join a VIEWS Conversation on Aging in April

The nonprofit senior peer counseling organization VIEWS will host the following Conversations on Aging during April. Older adults are invited to join these free conversations with their peers to talk about matters pertaining to aging.

Having Heart to Heart Talks With Our Loved Ones

We all have concerns about end-of-life care. We need to know our own minds, and we need our families to know also. This conversation will explore some of the life questions that may come up. What is most meaningful in your life now? Who can you talk to about your wishes? How can telling others influence your quality of life? How does that conversation get started?

Having Heart to Heart Talks With Our Loved Ones will be offered on the following dates:

* Friday, April 4, 10-11:30 a.m. at the Milwaukie Center, 5440 S.E. Kellogg Creek Drive in Milwaukie.Call the Milwaukie Center at 503-653-8100 to sign up.

* Wednesday, April 23, 10-11:30 a.m. at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center, 505 G Ave. in Lake Oswego. Call the center at 503-635-3758 for registration.

Talking with Your Doctor

Have you ever been anxious or frustrated by a doctor’s visit in which your needs were not met? Are you in charge of your health care? Let’s talk about what it would take to feel that you and your doctor are part of the same team. Talking With Your Doctor will be offered on the following dates:

* Friday, April 4, 10:30 a.m. to noon at The Founders Clinic, 700 Molalla Ave. in Oregon City. Call The Founders Clinic at 503-722-4400 to register.

The Elder Journey

Life and how we view it changes as we age. Aging brings challenges, and aging also brings gifts and wisdom to meet those challenges. Learn the 7-step Model of Successful Aging. Be part of a discussion about finding joy and meaning in life. This conversation will be offered:

Engaging with Adult Children

Relationships with children change as we age. Examine current problems and foster greater understanding between generations. Talk about some of your concerns. Engaging With Adult Children will be offered:
