Computer classes: April 2014

LO Computer Learning Center

Editing Your Digital Photos — Fridays, April 4 and 11, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., $16 members, $24 non-members.

Intermediate Excel — Fridays, April 4, 11, 18, 9-10:30 a.m., $22 members, $33 non-members.

How to Buy and Sell on eBay — Fridays, April 11 and 18, 3-4:30 p.m., $16 members, $24 non-members.

Craigslist: How to Buy and Sell Locally — Friday, April 25, 3-4:30 p.m., $10 members, $15 non-members.

Introduction to Windows 8 — Wednesdays, April 30 and May 7, 8:30-10:30 a.m., $16 members, $24 non-members.

Multnomah County Library

The Multnomah County Library offers the following computer classes for beginners. The classes are free, but registration is required. Sign up online, at the library or by calling 503-988-5234.

Meet the Computer — Never tried a computer before? In this two-session course, you will meet the computer, the keyboard and the mouse, learn what they are and how to use them. No experience is necessary for you to take this relaxed, fun class. Offered by OASIS Connections, a national organization devoted to lifelong learning for adults over 50, this is an excellent class to take before Introduction to Computers (see below). Meet the Computer will be offered at the following library branches:

* Belmont Library, 1038 S.E. 39th Ave., 503-988-5382 — Wednesdays, April 23 and 30, 10 a.m. to noon.

* Kenton Library, 8226 N. Denver Ave., 503-988-5370 — Sundays, April 13 and 20, 1-3 p.m.

Introduction to Computers — In this class series, you will learn all the basic computer skills including using the mouse and keyboard, working in Microsoft Windows, using Microsoft Word, surfing the Internet and using email. This course is ideal for someone who has a little experience with the computer but wants to know more. Introduction to Computers will be offered at these library branches:

* Midland Library, 805 S.E. 122nd Ave., 503-988-5392 — Mondays, April 7-28, 2-4:30 p.m.

* Sellwood-Moreland Library, 7860 S.E. 13th Ave., 503-988-5398 — Tuesdays, April 1-22, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Computer Survival Skills — Why is my computer running so slow? What does it mean when I get messages about updates? Come to this hands-on class to find out how to keep your computer running well and troubleshoot minor problems. This class is for beginners, but you must be comfortable using a keyboard and a mouse. Offered by OASIS Connections, it will be offered at the following branch:

* North Portland Library, 512 N. Killingsworth St., 503-988-5394 — Thursday, April 17, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
