Free computer classes for beginners: June 2014

LO Computer Learning Center

The Computer Learning Center at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center, 505 G Ave., offers the following classes in June, open to all ages. Call 503-635-3758 or visit www.ci.oswego.or.us/acc/classes for more information or to register.

Introduction to Windows 8 — Wednesdays, June 4 and 11, 8:30-10:30 a.m., $22 members, $33 non-members.

Beginning Excel — Fridays, June 6, 13, 20, 1-2:30 p.m., $22 members, $33 non-members.

Intro to the iPhone — Fridays, June 13 and 20, 9-10:30 a.m., $16 members, $24 non-members.

Introduction to Twitter — Friday, June 27, 3-4:30 p.m., $10 members, $15 non-members.

Multnomah County Library

The Multnomah County Library offers the following computer classes for beginners. The classes are free, but registration is required. Sign up online, at the library or by calling 503-988-5234.

Meet the Computer — Never tried a computer before? In this two-session course, you will meet the computer, the keyboard and the mouse, learn what they are and how to use them. No experience is necessary for you to take this relaxed, fun class. Offered by OASIS Connections, a national organization devoted to lifelong learning for adults over 50, this is an excellent class to take before Introduction to Computers (see below).

Meet the Computer will be offered Sundays, June 15 and 22, from 1-3 p.m. at the Kenton Library, 8226 N. Denver Ave., 503-988-5370.

Introduction to Computers — In this class series, you will learn all the basic computer skills including using the mouse and keyboard, working in Microsoft Windows, using Microsoft Word, surfing the Internet and using email. This course is ideal for someone who has a little experience with the computer but wants to know more.

Introduction to Computers will be offered Mondays, June 2-23, from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Midland Library, 805 S.E. 122nd Ave., 503-988-5392.
