Volunteer to become a VIEWS senior peer counselor

VIEWS is a nonprofit volunteer organization that provides free senior peer counseling to older adults in the Portland area.

These volunteers lead weekly support groups at senior and community centers and provide individual support to seniors in their homes. VIEWS also offers Conversations on Aging “workshops” on topics pertinent to older adults.

For 2014, VIEWS is seeking compassionate and caring volunteers 55 or over who are available for a no-cost, 50-hour training that covers various topics including basic supportive counseling skills, health issues common to older adults and community resources. Volunteers also can expect ongoing education and support through monthly meetings. Training will be held during October.

VIEWS recognizes that it’s so much easier when people have an opportunity to share the challenges of aging with peers. Come and be part of a program that provides support for seniors by seniors.
