Suspect arrested in Monday morning hit and run

Victim in critical condition at nearby hospital

Beaverton police are investigating a Monday morning hit-and-run involving two vehicles near Highway 217 and Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway that sent one man to a hospital with critical injuries and led to the arrest of another 24-year-old suspect.

Following a report of hit and run with an injured subject, police were called to the area near Highway 217 and Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway at 3:11 a.m., where they found 22-year-old Eduardo Hernandez-Dominguez unconscious on the ground with severe injuries.

Witnesses indicated a vehicle had struck and possibly run over the injured man, said Detective Sgt. James Shumway with the Beaverton Police Department. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

Statements from witnesses indicated an altercation started at a nearby nightclub, and the suspect vehicle, described as a 2004 silver GMC Yukon pickup, followed the victim’s vehicle, a 1997 white Nissan Maxima, away from the club. When the Maxima was stopped at a light at the Highway 217 northbound exit ramp, the pickup reportedly rammed or bumped the back of the victim's vehicle one or more times.

Hernandez-Dominguez, who police said is also the owner of the Maxima, jumped out of the vehicle from the passenger side where he was riding as a passenger. He was then struck by the suspect's pickup and may have been partially or completely run over, Shumway said.

A witness provided a partial license plate number for the Yukon. Officers were able to determine the full plate and put out a bulletin to the metro area with the plate and vehicle description. The vehicle was stopped at 19575 River Road in Gladstone less than an hour later, and driver Hector Torres-Espinoza, 24, was arrested on accusations of felony hit and run. He could face additional charges as the investigation continues, Shumway said.
