Fire damages house on Walker Road

TVF&R crews extinguish blaze quickly, find poodle unharmed

Firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue's Beaverton Station 61 were the first to arrive at a house fire Friday afternoon in the 13000 block of Walker Road.

Within four minutes of the first calls to 911 to report the blaze, firefighters were already extinguishing flames coming from a second story window. Occupants of the home had safely evacuated but a poodle named Lucy was missing. Crews conducted a search of the home while they continued to fight the fire. It wasn't until the fire was extinguished that the investigator located Lucy hiding unharmed in a bedroom.

Though damage was limited to the room of origin, there was smoke and water damage throughout the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the Washington County Sheriff's Office is assisting investigators.
