Forum to unveil Creekside District revitalization concepts

Event to feature design polling, interactive computer simulations of plans

City of Beaverton officials and Creekside District project representatives will share new visual concepts for the renewal district, the focal point for Beaverton's downtown revitalization effort, and ask for public input on key elements of three major components of the project at a forum on Thursday, July 18, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Beaverton City Library, 12375 S.W. Fifth St.

Among the information presented, the forum will feature Canyon Road improvement concepts shown through computer simulations, Creekside District park and plaza design options, and redevelopment concepts and strategies. Interactive aspects of the forum include audience polling and opportunities to weigh-in on the future Creekside District park, streetscapes, Canyon Road, and development in central Beaverton.

Located at the meeting of Beaverton, Hall and Wessenger creeks in Central Beaverton's, the Beaverton Creekside District comprises nearly 50 acres downtown and sits at the core of the regional center's transit systems.

With the help of the $1 million Housing and Urban Development Sustainable Communities Challenge Grant, the Beaverton Creekside project will build upon existing assets and help jump-start redevelopment of underused properties in the district, work to improve and beautify the city's creeks, and enable transportation and infrastructure improvements for downtown.
