It's not too late to apply for vacant Beaverton School Board seat
District extends application deadline to noon Jan. 27
The Beaverton School Board is accepting applications from citizens interested in filling the current vacancy in Zone 7 on the Beaverton School Board. The vacancy was created by the resignation of Lisa Shultz on Nov. 14, 2011.
Individuals interested in serving on the School Board must live within School Board Zone 7. Schools represented in this zone include: Chehalem, Fir Grove, Sexton Mountain and William Walker elementary schools, Highland Park and Meadow Park middle schools and the Arts and Communication Magnet Academy.
Applicants must also be a qualified voter of the district, have lived in the district for one year and cannot be a Beaverton School District employee.
The School Board will appoint a candidate to serve until June 30, 2013. The next regularly scheduled School Board election is May 2013. The appointee will have the option to run for Zone 7 with other potential candidates. The winner of this election will serve the remaining unexpired term until June 30, 2015.
Applications will be accepted until noon Friday, Jan. 27. Following an interview process at the winter work session on Jan. 30, the School Board plans to appoint an individual at its business meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
