Detectives with Washington County’s Major Crimes Team are questioning two people in connection with Saturday’s death of a 71-year-old Cedar Mill woman.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Bob Ray says no one has been charged in the case, but the person being questioned “is believed to have knowledge and or involvement in the homicide.”

The body of Jacqueline Bell was found at about 8:21 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, in her house at 10225 N.W. Lee St., after sheriff’s deputies went there to check on her welfare. Ray says the deputies “observed suspicious circumstances” and went into the house, where they found Bell’s body.

Investigators believe the person responsible for Bell’s death may have known her. Deputies canvassing the neighborhood took two people into custody for questioning about the case. Investigators do not believe anyone responsible for Bell’s death is still at large, Ray says.

Neighbors told KOIN 6 News Bell lived at the house with her grandson.
