Suspect sought in armed robbery of Shell station
Washington County Sheriff's deputies are seeking a suspect in an armed robbery of a Shell gas station on Tualatin Valley Highway on Sunday night.
No one was injured in the robbery, in which money and cigarettes were stolen.
Deputies responded to a call regarding a robbery at the station at 19165 S.W. Tualatin Valley Highway, around 11:55 p.m. The 20-year-old clerk said he was in the gas station's kiosk, which is locked except for an open window.
He said a man approached the kiosk wearing a black hoodie pulled tight around his face, a black baseball cap and a black bandana over his face. The suspect brandished a handgun, but the victim did not know what type of gun it was because only the barrel was visible, said Sgt. David Thompson, sheriff's office spokesman.
The suspect demanded money and cigarettes, which the clerk gave him, before he fled on foot. Deputies surrounded the area and used a Hillsboro Police K9 team to search for the suspect, who was not located.
The clerk further described the suspect as a white male between 25 and 30 years old. He was 5-feet, 6-inches tall with a medium build wearing blue jeans.
Detectives are asking the public to call with any information regarding the robbery at 503-846-2584.
