Couple steals gun from Beaverton apartment

Victim pursues suspects in chase that ends in Tigard

Tigard and Beaverton police have arrested a couple, after they reportedly stole a handgun from a Beaverton home and then fled to Tigard.

According to Mike Rowe with the Beaverton Police Department, Julianna Hays, 24, of Sandy, and Christopher Cushman, 35, of Portland, robbed a Beaverton man after he responded to a personal ad offering an erotic massage.

Police said Hays placed an ad offering erotic massages on the website Craigslist, and set up a late-night session at a home in the 14200 block of Southwest Teal Boulevard.

Hays allegedly went to the home at about 2:50 a.m. and distracted the man while Cushman stole $200 and a handgun.

Cushman and Hays then drove off. The victim followed the couple in a car and called police.

Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and officers with Tigard and Beaverton police stopped the car near Pacific Highway and McDonald Street where the duo was arrested.

“This is a good reminder about not allowing strangers into your residence and how dangerous it can be,” said Rowe. “The victim in this incident allowed a stranger into his apartment for what is believed to have been prostitution. This incident could have turned out much worse for all of the people involved.”

Hays was charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit burglary and first-degree conspiracy to commit theft. Cushman faces first-degree burglary and theft charges, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm.
