Honda driven by Nicholas Walrath crashes through cinder block wall

by: WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - A Honda driven by Nicholas Walrath crashed through a cinder block wall in the early morning hours of Thursday near the intersection of Southwest 185th Avenue and Pheasant Lane. Walrath was found deceased at the scene. An Aloha man died early Thursday morning when he apparently lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into a cinder block wall near Southwest 185th Avenue and Pheasant Lane.

Responding around 2:50 a.m. to numerous 911 calls reporting a crash in the area, Washington County Sheriff's deputies arrived to find an unrecognizable Honda vehicle that crashed through a cinder block wall at a high rate of speed.

Deputies located a deceased man in the wreckage they identified as Nicholas Walrath, 26, of Aloha. After checking the area and talking to the deceased man's father, who happened upon the scene, deputies determined no one else had been in the car with the crash victim.

Investigators from the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and determined the car was traveling north on 185th Avenue when the driver lost control and the car left the roadway. A preliminary investigation indicates the car was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour. Leaving the road, the car continued over the sidewalk on the east side of the road, struck a tree and broke through the wall before coming to rest. Debris from the car was scattered across all five lanes of 185th Avenue.
