Business incubator leader takes on new strategic role

Jim McCreight help manages 12 entrepreneurial tenants


After six years of service as chairman of the Oregon Technology Business Center’s board of directors, Jim McCreight is moving into a new role as director of strategic partnerships at the city of Beaverton-sponsored business incubator.

McCreight, who has served in the part-time position since Nov. 15, helps to develop strategic partnerships with government, corporate, foundation and individual supporters of the center. He will join OTBC Director Steve Morris and its new board Chairman Pryor Garnett in assisting the 12 tenant companies based in the start-up incubator located at 8305 S.W. A nonprofit organization that helps tech-based start-ups succeed through services such as networking, coaching and entrepreneurial programs, the OTBC also provides guidance to help fledgling entrepreneurs avoid common pitfalls of young technology businesses.

McCreight, a graduate of Portland State University, has founded six companies during his varied career in the professional as well as volunteer realms. He serves on the Maryhill Museum of Art’s board and as president and co-founder of the Beaverton Arts and Culture Foundation. For nine years, he worked for the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network, where he continues to volunteer.

He served as president of the Museum Trustee Association, a nonprofit organization that provides training and education to museum boards, and as a trustee on the High Desert Museum’s board. McCreight also has served as chairman of the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce and Beaverton Arts Commission.
