Beaverton Jade Sauna suffers $25,000 loss

by: TUALATIN VALLEY FIRE & RESCUE - Firefighters managed to extinguish a fire within minutes that was reported on Friday afternoon at the Beaverton Jade Sauna on Southwest 110th Avenue.A Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue fire investigator determined that the cause of Friday afternoon’s fire at the Beaverton Jade Sauna was accidental.

An investigation revealed the fire originated in the attic space when a heat lamp that was installed in the ceiling overheated. Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $25,000, fire officials said.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue personnel responded at 1:21 p.m. to reports of a commercial fire at Beaverton Jade Sauna at 4260 S.W. 110th Ave. A customer inside the spa reported the fire and was told to call 911 while those inside were evacuated. Everyone made it out, and there were no injuries.

Firefighters from nearby West Slope Station 65 arrived at the business in about three minutes to find heavy smoke coming from the structure’s eaves. Locating the blaze in the attic of the building, firefighters were able to knock down the fire and bring it under control approximately 10 minutes after arrival, fire officials reported.

Traffic on Southwest 110th Avenue was re-routed around the fire scene.

TVF&R was assisted by Portland Fire & Rescue during the incident.

TVF&R firefighters encourage anybody encountering smoke or fire in a structure to exit immediately, call 911, and do not go back inside if you suspect a fire, even if you aren’t sure.
