Times seeks stories for annual edition of Portrait

From the beginning of time, animals have played a key role in our lives. We have relied on them for food, clothing, service, protection and companionship.

And there is no doubt we love the animals in our lives. According to American Pet Products Association, Americans spent $55.53 billion on their pets in 2013 TIMES PHOTO: CHRISTINA LENT - This is Brazen, whose antics have provided fodder for Mikel Kellys column on the Opinion page. We want to hear about the animals in your life.

From the bizarre to the typical dogs and cats, pets often entertain us with their antics and win us over with their unwavering devotion. We want to hear your stories about the animals in your lives for our next edition of Portrait, our annual souvenir edition of the Beaverton Valley Times. The theme this year is “The Animals in Our Lives.”

Does your favorite store have a shop cat or dog or bird? Does your neighbor raise unique animals? Does your pet have the craziest antics? Do you benefit from a service animal? Perhaps you work with animals, train animals or compete with animals. Do you volunteer or work with an organization that cares for, rescues or aids critters in the wild?
