An Aloha man died on Wednesday, March 26, after a vehicle he was driving apparently crashed headfirst into a dump truck north of Sherwood.
Todd Spencer Ringheim, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Washington County sheriffs deputies were called to Southwest Roy Rogers Road north of Southwest Scholls-Sherwood Road at about 6:45 a.m., after receiving reports of a two-vehicle crash.
According to deputies, Ringheim was driving a 2009 Escalade SXT south on Roy Rogers Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, crossing into oncoming traffic and crashing into the front of a passing dump truck.
The driver of the dump truck received minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, deputies said.
Deputies say both vehicles received severe damage and were traveling at about 55 miles per hour, the speed limit on that stretch of road, when they collided.
Roy Rogers Road was closed until after 1 p.m. as investigators gathered evidence and diagramed the scene,
Sherwood Police and the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team assisted in the investigation, but say it is not yet clear why Ringheim crossed into oncoming traffic.
The investigation continues.
