Woman cited in injury crash that closed Highway 26

Beaverton woman charged with reckless driving, driving without license

A Beaverton woman was transported by LifeFlight helicopter with serious injuries.A Beaverton woman and her daughter were injured on Monday morning when the car she was driving crossed the center line and crashed into a semi-truck on Highway 26 near Banks.

Beaverton resident Joy De'Ann Allen was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla westbound on Highway 26 near milepost 51 around 9 a.m. when the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane and crashed into the left-front corner of a 2007 Freightliner semi-truck in the eastbound lane.

Firefighters with the Banks Fire District extricated Allen, 35, and her 2-year-old daughter. Allen was transported by LifeFlight helicopter to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. An ambulance transported her child, who suffered minor injuries, to the same hospital.

The truck's driver, Gregory P. Kostrba, 66, of Wilsonville, received minor injuries but refused medical care at the scene, said Lt. Greg Hastings, spokesman for Oregon State Police.

Allen was citied to appear in Washington County Circuit Court on accusations of reckless driving, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, two counts of fourth-degree assault, driving without an operator's license and unlawful possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine.

Highway 26 was closed with a detour in place for more than three hours.

Personnel from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Banks Fire District and Oregon Department of Transportation are assisting Oregon State Police lead investigator Will Brindza. The investigation is ongoing.
