Suspects face charges in human trafficking case following police pursuit

Couple hospitalized, 17-year-old girl victim taken to safety

A Tuesday afternoon traffic stop on Southwest 173rd Avenue related to a human trafficking investigation led to the arrest of a Vancouver, Wash., couple after they fled police in a vehicle and crashed into two Beaverton Police Department vehicles.

Both suspects, 21-year-old Davontie Donahue and his wife Torri Donahue, 22, were taken to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Torri Donahue was cited with promoting prostitution and released from the hospital. Her husband will be lodged in the Washington County Jail on a felony warrant and faces charges of compelling and promoting prostitution, eluding police and felon in possession of a firearm after a Smith & Wesson AR15 assault rifle was reportedly found in the trunk of the vehicle along with loaded magazines.

On Tuesday around 2:43 p.m., Beaverton police detectives stopped a vehicle on Southwest 173rd Avenue near Southwest Washington Court. The occupants were suspects in a human trafficking investigation the detectives had been following from the time they dropped a 17-year-old girl off at a Comfort Inn hotel.

The Donahues reportedly refused to follow the detectives’ commands and fled in the vehicle. After fleeing the scene, the suspects’ vehicle crashed into a detective’s car and a marked K9 Unit vehicle. They continued southbound on 173rd Avenue and turned west onto Southwest Farmington Road, where they struck a citizen’s vehicle.

The car then left the roadway, crashing through a fence and coming to rest in a drainage ditch. Davontie Donahue fled the vehicle, but the K9 officer whose vehicle he struck found him a short time later hiding in a child’s pink playhouse in a resident’s backyard.

The 17-year-old human trafficking victim, who is not related to the couple, is safe and with Beaverton police detectives.

The westbound lanes of Farmington Road between 170th Avenue and Kinnaman Road were closed for several hours for the investigation.
