Schedule set for night paving of city streets

Osprey Drive, Barrows Road, Murray Boulevard to be resurfaced

The city of Beaverton's street maintenance section of its Public Works Department will resurface several city streets in the next week.

Resurfacing, rather than replacing deteriorated streets, allows the city to save tax dollars, with overlays much less expensive than rebuilds, said Bill LaMarche, spokesman for the city. Beaverton inspects its streets regularly to determine which roads are in need of overlays.

Here is the schedule for pavement overlay work from Sunday, June 8, to Wednesday, June 12:

• Southwest Osprey Drive — Teal to Murray boulevards, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. The roads will remain open to local traffic only.

• Southwest Barrows Road — Walnut Street to power line corridor, from 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Road will be closed with a traffic detour.

• Southwest Murray Boulevard — Scholls Ferry Road to Bridge, from 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Road will be closed with a detour.

The work is weather dependent and will be complete no later than 5 a.m. City crews will complete the work as quickly as possible, while providing the highest possible quality, LaMarche said.
