Cedar Hills incident leads to arrest with victim suffering minor injuries
Washington County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 40-year-old man Saturday night in connection with the assault of a teenage girl in Cedar Hills.
Phillip Banuelos, 40, was arrested and lodged in the Washington County Jail. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies arrived at a residence near Southwest Jenkins Road and Ecole Avenue following reports of an assault around 8 p.m. They arrived to find several people and a chaotic scene, said Sgt. Vance Stimler, sheriff's office spokesman.
Through interviews with witnesses and the victim, deputies developed probable cause to track down arrest Banuelos. They learned the victim did not know the suspect.
Banuelos was arrested on accusations of second-degree assault and kidnapping, harassment, strangulation and third-degree sex abuse. He was lodged in the Washington County Jail on $250,000 bail. He was arraigned Monday afternoon, June 9.
No further information is available at this time, as this is an ongoing investigation, Stimler said. Detectives will be following up on this incident.
