In six days, between June 6 and shortly after midnight on Thursday, June 12, deputies responded to six similar residential burglaries in the southern part of Aloha.

"The burglaries were usually during the daytime and had forced front doors with the house ransacked," said Sgt. Bob Ray, sheriff's office spokesman. "The burglar had been seen on more than one occasion by the victims. It was believed that the burglar was traveling by bicycle."

Property crime detectives were assisting with the investigations and promptly shared a physical description and other information about the burglar with local law enforcement agencies. Deputies were searching for a man who matched the description.

On Friday at about 12:09 p.m., deputies were called to a residence in the 5800 block of Southwest 209th Avenue on a burglary report. The homeowners arrived home to find their front door forced open. They discovered the house was ransacked and some belongings missing.

As a deputy was on his way to the residence, additional deputies searched the area for the suspect.

As deputies were investigating the burglary on 209th, another deputy saw a person matching the description north of the initial burglary report. The man was riding a bicycle from Southwest McInnis Lane onto 209th Avenue, Ray said.

A deputy stopped the bicyclist, who was identified as Daniel, and reportedly found stolen property in his possession.

A few minutes later, another deputy located a residence in the 21000 block of Southwest McInnis Lane that had the front door kicked in and the house's interior ransacked.

The deputy was able to locate a homeowner and connect property stolen from the house to Daniel, Ray said.

"Deputies believe Mr. Daniel arrived to the area from Minnesota about the time the string of burglaries began," Ray added. "Joseph Daniel is suspected of committing these eight burglaries and possibly more that have not been discovered or reported.

"Additional property was found that detectives believe belong to the victims of the previous burglaries."
