Bret T. Davis, 46, of Hillsboro was arrested and transported to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Deputies responded to a call from a resident who found a man inside his Pheasant Drive home around 2:40 p.m. The suspect reportedly assaulted the homeowner before running from the house.

With the assistance of a sheriff's K9 unit, deputies, who learned the suspect fled the scene into a green space behind the house, tracked the suspect less than a mile from the victim's home.

The suspect refused several orders to come down from the tree. Instead he climbed higher until he fell approximately 40 feet and sustained minor injuries, said Sgt. Vance Stimler, a sheriff's office spokesman.

Davis was transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was lodged on accusations of first-degree burglary, third-degree robbery, fourth-degree assault and second-degree theft.

The homeowner sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
