Suspected arson fire damages carport, vehicles

Exclusive video shows destruction


by: COURTSEY OF TUALATIN FIRE & RESCUE - This carport was destroyed at the Canyon Park Apartments.Five vehicles were damaged by a fire that destroyed a carport at a Beaverton apartment complex Sunday evening.

According to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, evidence gathered at the scene suggests the fire was intentionally set. The investigation has been turned over to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

No one was injured in the blaze at the Canyon park Apartments off of Canyon Road and Southwest 107th Ave.

According to TVF&R, firefighters responded to several 9-1-1 reports of popping noises and explosions at a burning carport at 9:34 p.m. on July 27. Crews arrived and began aggressively fighting the fire within four minutes. They were able to extinguish the burning carport and keep the fire from spreading to nearby apartments.

Preliminary reports indicated the fire started in a trash dumpster.
