Nicole Laube of Forest Grove found unconscious and bleeding outside Timber Creek apartments
Investigators are seeking a suspect in the Tuesday evening homicide of a Forest Grove woman at a Cedar Mill apartment complex.
Nicole Laube, 29, was found lying on the ground outside The Commons at Timber Creek apartments in the 12000 block of Northwest Barnes Road just after 5 p.m.
A neighbor reported that a female came to her and said she had been stabbed. Another resident called the sheriffs office for assistance.
Deputies found Laube outside, unconscious and bleeding, with apparent stab wounds. Deputies administered emergency lifesaving assistance, but Laube was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter, said Sgt. Bob Ray, a Washington County Sheriffs Office spokesman.
The victim was an employee of the apartment complex and working unspecified duties at the time.
Investigators are still trying to determine if Laube, reportedly an active person with an interest in bodybuilding, knew her attacker. Laube was married, and neighbors told KOIN 6 News, a Pamplin Media Group news partner, that she and her husband have children.
Helmed by the sheriffs office, an intensive manhunt with K-9s and more than 20 law enforcement personnel from surrounding agencies was unable to locate a suspect.
Social media pages portray Laube as a passionate advocate for health and fitness, KOIN-6 news reported. A former neighbor reported Laube is the daughter of a pastor at Calvary Chapel Worship Center in Hillsboro.
One resident of the apartment complex, who said he had seen Laube around but didnt know her personally, said he thought it was odd that sheriffs deputies hadnt interviewed his neighbors as of Wednesday afternoon.
Theres some of us scaredy-cats who worry that the perpetrator may be a resident who simply stayed in his apartment after the incident, he said. We are worried because this happened in broad daylight, and as far as we know, nobody heard anything. Its scary to think the place you live is the place where something like this can happen.
An autopsy is underway, and the investigation continues.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriffs office at 503-629-0111.
