The Beaverton-born homeless program Second Home is actually getting a second and third home as it expands to Gresham and Lincoln County.
The Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon program has partnered with the city of Gresham and the Gresham-Barlow School District to start Second Home there. The program finds stable housing for homeless teen who live temporarily with volunteer home providers.
During the most recent full school year, Second Home served 12 students. All but one either graduated, earned a GED or stayed in school for the current year.
Were excited to see the program expand into Gresham with such community support, Jennifer Pratt, Second Home project manager, said in a news release from the city of Gresham. Gresham is currently recruiting volunteer home providers.
Lincoln County on the central Oregon coast plans to launch its Second Home program before the end of the school year, according to the Gresham announcement.
