Open House set Thursday for Beaverton magnet school
The Maker Club of Beaverton's Arts and Communication Magnet Academy, in collaboration with Lumina Lab and the Intel Innovators Program, presents a Maker Open House and Opening Reception for Stoicheia [ELEMENTS] from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 9, in the foyer of ACMA's Performing Arts Center, 11375 S.W. Center St.
The all-ages event, open to the public, celebrates Teen Tech Week and International Women's Day. The goal is to inspire and encourage children, teens and women to explore their interests in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and the arts. The Beaverton School District's Future Bus will greet attendees at the entrance of the Performing Arts Center.
Stoicheia [ELEMENTS] is an art installation by Lilli Szafranski and Jesse Banks of Lumina Lab. It is an homage to Earth's earliest thinkers, Plato and Euclid, merging modern technology with the very foundations of mathematics, and dedicating it to the culture from which modern academia was born.
The open house also will feature hands-on demonstrations of hardware and LED objects, multiple STEM-related exploration stations, and art activities. Light snacks will be provided.
