School board vice-chair steps down

Deadlines to apply for appointment, and for election to seat, draw near.

FILE PHOTO - Linda DegmanLinda Degman, vice-chairwoman of the Beaverton School Board, has resigned her board position, effective immediately, citing personal and professional reasons.

The school board Zone 7 position will appear on the May 16 ballot. Those interested in being a candidate must file by Thursday, March 16, with the Washington County Elections Office.

The Beaverton School Board also is accepting applications for appointment to the Zone 7 school board position and the term of service will end with this school year, on June 30. Applications must be received by Friday, March 20. The board will determine the process for reviewing applications and making an appointment at its Monday, March 13, business meeting.

The board also will select a new vice-chair on March 13.
