The Washington County Sheriff's Office has not identified the victim in Tuesday's homicide.

PHOTO COURTESY OF WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Investigators respond Tuesday, Sept. 19, to a shooting in North Plains. The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday night outside North Plains.

Deputies responded around 4:49 p.m. to the 16000 block of N.W. Dairy Creek Road, where they found an adult male outside suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies attempted life-saving measures but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect fled prior to deputies' arrival.

The inter-agency Washington County Major Crimes Team is investigating. No arrests have been made but investigators said they believe there is no danger to the public.

The name of the dead man has not been released due to pending family notifications.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the North Plains Police Department, Forest Grove Police Department, Hillsboro Police Department, and Oregon State Police. Forensic technicians with the Sheriff's Office responded to process the scene.
