Monday event at City Library will have contenders for City Council, Washington County board chair, Metro Council District 4 seat.

Beaverton will play host to a forum with candidates for the City Council, Washington County board chair, and the Metro Council District 4 seat in the May 15 primary.

The forum will be Monday, April 23, at the Beaverton City Library, 12375 S.W. 5th St. Candidates will mingle with the public starting at 6:30 p.m., and the program will start at 7 p.m.

Candidates for four offices have been invited. The candidates are listed below, but a listing does not indicate whether they will attend:

• Beaverton City Council, Position 2: Patricia "Penny" Douglas; Kate Kristiansen; Laura Mitchell; Brian Rhone. This is an open seat.

• Beaverton City Council, Position 5: Marc San Soucie, incumbent; Rafael La Grotta.

• Washington County chair (elected at large countywide): Ryan Deckert, Kathryn Harrington, Bob Terry, Shabba Woodley. This is an open seat.

• Metro Council, District 4: Dana Carstensen, Juan Carlos Gonzalez. This is an open seat.

Forum sponsors are the Beaverton Committee for Citizen Involvement and the Beaverton Neighborhood and Public Involvement Program.

All these offices are nonpartisan. In multicandidate races, if no one wins a majority in the primary, the top two finishers advance to the Nov. 6 general election.
