Beaverton Farmers Market hosts drive to collect glasses, hearing aids for people in need

The Cedar Hills-Sunset Lions Club will be collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids on Saturday at the Beaverton Farmers Market’s Community Service booth near the entertainment area.

The  donated eyeglasses will be sent to an optician training program at a local correctional facility. Then, they are distributed by Lions Club volunteers who go on missions throughout the world to help people who otherwise would not have access to vision and hearing correction.

Beaverton Farmers Market customers are invited to come find out what Lions do in the community and worldwide. While sight and hearing are their traditional focus, each club also raises funds and performs service projects within the community.

The eyeglasses and hearing aids drive will be held during market hours from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The market is held Saturdays in downtown Beaverton, across from the Beaverton City Library on Southwest Hall Boulvard between Third and Fifth streets.
