NEWS IN BRIEF n
500 FRIENDS PROJECT KICKS OFF TO SAVE GOLF: The '500 Friends of BSD Golf' project kicked off last week with its drive to save Metro League golf. The project, set up in response to Beaverton School District budget cuts that eliminated all funding for high school golf, seeks first to secure funding for the 2013 spring season for the varsity boys and girls golf teams at Aloha, Beaverton, Southridge, Sunset and Westview high schools. After that, the drive aims to secure funding to continue Metro golf for 2014-15 as well. Metro golfers are each being asked to secure at least six 'Friends,' donors who will contribute at least $50 to help save Metro League golf. Contributors may pay by check or credit card by visiting savebsdgolf.com. For more information, please see the story on the Valley Times' website, beavertonvalleytimes.com.
