Yet again, more need is expected throughout the area this Christmas season

Individuals and families who live within the boundaries of the Canby School District and who have not signed up for holiday assistance from another program, are eligible to receive a Christmas food basket and gifts for children through age 18 through the Canby Community Food and Toy Drive project organized by Canby Kiwanis Club.

The application forms are available at the Canby Public Library, the Canby Center, Canby Kiwanis Thrift Store, and Canby Adult Center. They must be returned by Dec. 14.

Food and Gift Donations Needed

by: JOHN BAKER - The line stretches out the old Rite Aide building as food boxes are ready to go. The Canby Kiwanis Club is asking the community to support the annual Community Food and Toy Drive, which last year provided Christmas baskets to 460 Canby families, including over 1,200 children. All donations stay locally. Since the Canby community has been so generous in the past, we have not needed to take toys from already spread-thin programs like Toy and Joy or the KGW Big Toy Drive. Non-perishable food and new, unwrapped gifts can be placed in the barrels at the following locations: Burgerville, American Steel, 99 E Mini Storage, Canby Fire Department, Club Fit, Millar’s Hiway Tire Factory, Canby Telcom, Cutsforth’s Thriftway, Columbia River Bank, Canby Physical Therapy, Canby Police Department, Canby Utility, Canby Swim Center, Canby Adult Center, Canby Kiwanis Thrift Store, Dr. David Gisborne, RE/MAX Equity Group, Les Schwab, Coldwell Banker/Barbara Sue Seal Properties, Studio 103, US Bank, Key Bank, Walgreens, Canby Public Library, Clackamas Community Federal Credit Union, Dr. Michael Cary, Canby Mattress World, MEC Northwest, Barlow Mini Storage, Roth Heating and Cooling, Brandon Chase Edward Jones Investments, Matt Olsen State Farm, The Place to Be, Aura Salon Spa and Laser, Wallflowers, Salon L, city of Canby offices, Hotrod Dreamworks, The Human Bean, Johnson Controls, SP&G Reprographics, Wells Fargo Bank, Neighborhood Health Center, Canby Eye Care, American Family Insurance, Advantage Mortgage, Red Door Antiques and Resale and Wilcox, Arredondo & Co.

Gifts for children age 3 and under, and middle and high school age students, especially boys, are typically in short supply. Monetary donations to buy needed gifts will be accepted.
