Coburn named executive director at Thelma's Place
Ellen Coburn has been named the new executive director of Thelmas Place in Canby.
Coburn has worked in a variety of settings for the past 17 years and retired in 2011 from Hubbard Chevrolet. She started working at Countryside Living on a part-time basis in the activity department just after retiring.
I wasnt ready to be retired, she said, and I really enjoy working with people, especially seniors. Its such a joy to go into work each day and know that Ive made people smile and helped them create a new memory.
Founded in 2008 by Erik Berkey, Thelmas Place is a nonprofit resource center that serves those in our communities living with memory loss, including Alzheimers disease and other dementias. It is now Oregon State Medicaid approved.
The hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $50 for a six-hour session and $10 for each additional hour.
