Thelma’s Place offers thanks for local support

To the editor:

Thelma's Place would like to thank the community for supporting our hanging basket sale.

We still have a few plants left to sell, but it was the best year yet for this local nonprofit organization. Having this annual fundraiser helps us to make a difference in the lives of people living with memory loss by providing a respite program for their caregivers.

We could not do it without the support of businesses and individuals in and around Canby.

Call 503-266-5100 for more information.

People were disrespectful at this year’s CHS graduation

To the editor:

First off I would like to congratulate the 2014 Canby graduates. You have accomplished a great milestone in your life and you deserved to be recognized. What I saw at this year’s graduation was a backyard party.

There were people holding conversations in which you could not hear speeches nor the graduate’s name, and children running around. I also saw people get up and start to leave once their family member’s name was called.

When I graduated, there was respect given to the graduates. What I saw Friday night was total disrespect to the graduates and to the families and friends that came to watch. Canby parents, family and friends, of which I am talking about, you should be ashamed of yourself. I hope that the disrespectful people stay home for next year’s graduation.
