Canby FFA off to good start with win

Nine Canby High School FFA members attended the annual Mount Hood District Leadership Camp Sept. 11-12 at Camp Adams in Colton.

Along with the team win, Canby’s FFA snagged individual honors. Rosie Ivanov placed as first president, Collin Matthias placed as first vice president, Austin Nichols placed as first secretary and Brittany Scott placed as first reporter.

The rituals event is a speaking contest where the officers recite the lines they say when opening and closing a meeting.

To enhance the experience, guest speakers attended and the six Oregon State officers held leadership workshops for students. Chapter officers attended workshops to get a better understanding of their responsibilities, while chapter members learned more about how they can become a leader.
