County's cultural coalition looking for grant applications

The Clackamas County Cultural Coalition seeks proposals for the 2015 Community Cultural Participation Project Grant Program. Any Clackamas County-based organization or individual working in the fields of arts, heritage or humanities can apply. Tax-exempt status is not a prerequisite.

Deadline for grant applications is Oct. 15. Grants will be awarded January 2015 for projects occurring between January and December 2015.

Canby projects have benefited and participated in the Cultural Coalition Project grant program since 2008, with approximately six grants awarded to Canby-area projects in that time.

Some of the bigger projects the Cultural Coalition Grants have helped fund include: Canby Public Library — Civil War 150: Reading and discussion series (2013) and 1771 reading and discussion Series (2012); Canby Community Concert Association (2011); Canby Main Street Program’s self-guided walking tour (2011); and Canby Arts Association: — First Friday artwalks (2006).

Individuals and organizations considering applying for a 2015 project grant are encouraged to attend a free grant orientation workshop at the Clackamas County Development Services Building in Oregon City.

Individuals — Sept. 9 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Organizations — Sept. 10 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Projects related to the following funding priorities will be eligible for application:

The Clackamas County Cultural Coalition grant program is managed by the Clackamas County Arts Alliance. Cheryl Snow, executive director of the Arts Alliance said, “The coalition is committed to implementing cultural plan funding priorities through the imaginative and thoughtful work of county's numerous creative people and organizations. We look forward to supporting first-time grant applicants, in addition to those who are the cornerstones of county cultural life.”
