College volleyball: Portland State wins fifth edition of Canby sister series
Garyn and Kasey Schlatter will face off for the last time in the collegiate ranks when Montana State hosts the Vikings in early November.
Garyn Schlatter remained undefeated against her sister, fellow Canby alumna Kasey Schlatter, with the Portland State volleyball teams 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-23) comeback win over Montana State in a Big Sky Conference clash at home Sept. 28.
Garyn Schlatter, a senior setter for the Vikings, tallied 42 assists, six kills, six digs, and five block assists while improving to 5-0 in the sibling series.
Kasey Schlatter, a junior defensive specialist for the Bobcats, logged a team-high 13 digs while adding three assists and an ace in the loss.
Montana State (2-13, 0-4 in the Big Sky) raced out to a 15-8 lead in the opening frame en route to taking a 1-0 edge in the match, but Portland State (7-7, 4-0) stormed back to win three sets in a row.
The final meeting between the daughters of current Canby volleyball coach Terri Jo Schlatter is slated for Nov. 1 in Bozeman, Mont.
