Great giveaway this weekend

Kelly Thibodeaux & Etouffee "Cajun Swamp Rock" will be the featured concert at this week's Picnic in the Park

It is nearly back to school time for Crook County students, which means sports physicals, shopping for school supplies, and possibly the most costly of them all, school clothes.

Three local churches have teamed up to help with the clothing costs with the Annual Central Oregon Great Giveaway, which will be held this Saturday, Aug. 16, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Prineville residents have gone through their closets to find items of clean, quality clothing that others can use. If you would like to donate items, you can contact them at 541-350-5788 or 541-788-7484.

The collaborative effort of the community means that everyone is invited to shop for free, take what you need, and give what you can. You can shop at these participating churches: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, St. Andrews Episcopal Church, and Church of the Nazarene.

Prineville Perk will be held at Above & Beyond Sleep Headquarters, located at 800 N. Main St., on Friday, Aug. 15, from 8 to 8:30 a.m. For more information on Prineville Perk, contact the Prineville-Crook County Chamber of Commerce at 541-447-6304. The Chamber is looking for businesses to host the weekly gathering. If you would like to have active chamber members come to your business, have coffee, and learn what your business has to offer, give Kandice a call to get assigned a Friday that is convenient for you.
