District 4 tourney set to start Monday
PORTLAND - Tigard and Tualatin City, as well as five other teams, have their eyes set on a district championship - and the World Series bid that goes with it.
The Tigard Little League and Tualatin City Little League squads will start what they hope is a trek to the World Series when they begin play Monday at the District 4 Little League Majors (ages 11-12) held at Alpenrose Dairy, located at located at 6149 S.W. Shattuck Road.
Tigard is one of four teams that will play in Pool A at the tournament. Forest Grove, Lake Oswego and defending district champion Cedar Mill are the other teams in Pool A.
Tualatin City joins Murrayhill and Wolf Creek in Pool B.
Tigard starts tourney play Monday when it takes on Cedar Mill in a pool play game starting at 5:15 p.m. on the east field. Tualatin City meets Murrayhill in a pool play game Monday starting at 7:30 p.m. on the main field.
On Tuesday, Tigard plays Lake Oswego at 5 p.m. on the main field. Tualatin City has a bye from play on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Tigard plays Forest Grove at 5 p.m. on the main field. At 7:30 p.m., Tualatin City plays Wolf Creek.
The tournament semifinals are set for next Thursday with games at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
On Friday, the third-place game will be held at 5 p.m. The district championship contest will follow at 7:30 p.m.
Members of the Tigard Little League team that will play at the tourney are Madeline Boyce, Berit Foster, Bailey Hare, Mica Hollingsworth, Jessica Lemieux, Savannah Rose, Cynthia Schuh, Annie Spangler, Emma Stanley, Hannah Stewart, Keara Thompson and Emma Wattman-Oshima. David Rose is Tigard's manager and Randy Hare is a coach with the team.
Members of the TC tourney team are Morgan Betka, Sarah Bixel, Aubrey Brown, Shelby Burke, Mary Grace Bywater, Kayla Gamache, Taryn O'Neill, Tau Rodondi, Hannah Schmitz, Emilee Symonds and Morgan Windhorn. Bob Brown is TC's manager and Bob Schmitz is a coach with the team.
