After losing four straight road series, the Aloha Knights returned home to blowout Bellingham 11-4 on Thursday, July 20, at Mt. Hood Community College.
The Knights won the opener of the three-game set by exploding for eight runs in the fifth inning. The first six batters reached base during the rally, which was capped with a two-run homer by Shawn Wayt.
Relief pitcher Nick Hedgecock sealed the victory by striking out two and not allowing a hit through the last three innings.
The Knights (15-13) are fourth in the West Coast College Baseball League and host first-place Spokane (20-7) in a three-game series starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 23.
Aloha dropped a pair of one-run games to lose a series in Kitsap earlier in the week. The Knights won the middle game 4-1, led by pitcher Marc Rzepczynski, who struck out nine through 8 1/3 innings. He improved to 3-0 for the summer.
