Kokesh scores the game-winner in the eighth inning
David Douglas went silent through the last five innings and missed out on a berth to the AAA American Legion metro-area playoffs after a 6-5 loss to Aloha on Thursday night.
The Scots built a 5-1 lead in the third inning on solo homers by Evan Jensen and Trent Golleher, but Aloha pulled even with a four-run burst in the fourth inning. The Knights took advantage of four errors during the rally, including a dropped infield fly that allowed the tying run to score.
David Douglas tried to steal home twice in the late innings, but was tagged out on each attempt. Aloha's Zak Kokesh led off the eighth inning with a single and eventually scored the winning run when Dylan Jones dropped a two-out single in shallow center field.
Aloha advances to play Hoodview champion East County in a three-game series starting at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, July 22, in Sandy.
