Boys team is making second trip to California meet
The Eastside Water Polo Club qualified two teams to compete at the ages 18-and-under Junior Olympic national championships next week in California.
The boys squad is making its second straight tournament appearance after taking third out of eight teams at Regionals in the spring. The boys tournament runs from Saturday, July 29 through Tuesday, Aug. 1.
Eastside also qualified its girls team for the first time after it finished fourth out of six teams at Regionals. It will compete Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 3-6.
'The kids are excited about making the trip,' Eastside coach Kacie Lofstedt said. 'You don't get a chance to see to this kind of competition up here, so it will be a chance for them to play at that next level.'
The Eastside Club includes a mix of players from Barlow, Sandy, Gresham, Reynolds and Centennial High Schools.
