8-year-old bicyclist hospitalized for injuries after being struck by Hummer in Cornelius

Police say driver of vehicle committed no crime when their black SUV struck a young girl who darted into traffic

Forest Grove Fire and Rescue reports that an 8-year-old girl was struck by a black Hummer SUV pulling a trailer. The girl was transported to an area hospital by LifeFlight helicopter with what appear to be serious or critical injuries.

Firefighters say witnesses saw the vehicle's tires run over the young girl, who lived in a nearby neighborhood and was riding alone, shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters say the girl was not wearing a helmet.

Cornelius police investigated the crash and determined the driver committed no crime.
