TUALATIN - Watercolor, fun in the sun and the ambiance of a commons area that surrounds a lake.
'It's what keeps me coming back every year,' said Milwaukie artist Kati Bendig.
The 11th annual ArtSplash will make waves Friday through Sunday at Tualatin Lake Commons, S.W. 8325 Nyberg Street. This will be Bendig's fifth year to participate in Tualatin's ArtSplash. The watercolorist said it's the people that keep her coming back.
The art show and sale will feature watercolors, oil, acrylic, pastel, photography, jewelry and other crafts created by 53 local community artists.
Admission is free to the art event, which begins at noon Friday, July 28. This year's juror, Chris Keylock Williams, has already seen slides of the participating artists' works and noted that the ArtSplash event would have a good showing of professional artists this year.
'It's good to make yourself get out there and be seen,' Williams said of artists who enter their work in showings such as ArtSplash.
This year the event will also include musical entertainment from the Patrick Lamb Band. The group will perform at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 28.
The acoustical and folk group, Blue Side Down, will perform at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 29. The Stephanie Schneiderman Band will at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Also on Saturday, a model boat exhibition will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Lake of the Commons. Chalk art will be featured Sunday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
