Candidates show interest in KC Council

With four seats on the King City Council open, this falls elections could result in some drastic changes in the direction for King City.

Candidates packets became available at City Hall July 5 and the requirement for running for council is that the candidate turn in 25 signatures of registered voters to get on the ballot.

Councilors serve four year terms. Positions up for election are held now by Brenda Wilkinson, who just last month was appointed to fill the vacated seat of Nancy Duthie, councilors Ron Shay, Jim Gates and Chuck Faes.

Faes also held the Mayors position for the past two years. Faes has indicated that he will not be running for office this election.

The mayor is elected by the council every two years. A new mayor will be elected in January 2007.

So far Shay and Wilkinson have picked up an election packet as well as KC resident and former mayor, Jack Kloster.
