Eagles beat Central Point in state opener
Eddie Lynn hits game-winner in sixth inning

Centennial scored the game-winner in the sixth inning to get past Central Point 5-4 in the opening game of the A American Legion state tournament in Grants Pass on Friday morning.
Eddie Lynn came up with the big two-out hit, knocking an RBI-single through the middle of the infield to score Kevin Miller from second base.
The Eagles took advantage of a series of Central Point errors to build a 4-0 lead in the first inning only to see the Comets tie the game in the top of the sixth.
'We got a little complacent after getting that early lead,' Eagles' manager Jake Austin said. 'But once they tied the game, our kids responded in their next at-bats, including that clutch hit by Eddie.'
The Eagles advance to play North Medford or Grant in a winner's-bracket semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29.
Centennial pitcher Kenneth Clarke went the distance and struck out nine.
