Sherwood basketball looking for coaches

REGISTER NOW FOR SHERWOOD YOUTH BASKETBALL

SHERWOOD - It is time to register for the 2006 - 2007 Sherwood youth basketball season. All recreational and classic players should register now, according to league organizers.

Recreational basketball is open to eligible third through eighth grade boys and girls. Recreational evaluations will be held the week of October 23.

Classic basketball is open to eligible fifth through eighth grade boys and girls who would like to tryout for a more competitive level of play. Tryouts for placement on a classic team will be held the week of October 2.

Registration closes Saturday, September 16. You can register online at www.eteamz.com/sherwoodbasketball.

Registrations will not be accepted after the deadline for either the recreational or classic programs. Instead, late applicants will be placed on a waiting list for possible placement based on availability. A $25 late registration fee will be added to any application received after the September 16 deadline.

The Sherwood Basketball Organization will continue to run the Parents Association for Youth Sports (PAYS) program. A parent from each participating family (classic and recreational) will need to attend a PAYS orientation meeting. PAYS meetings will be held in conjunction with team parent meetings.

For classic teams these meetings will be held the week of Oct 16. The recreational meetings will be held the week on Oct. 30.

SHERWOOD YOUTH BASKETBALL LOOKING FOR COACHES

SHERWOOD -- The Sherwood Basketball Organization (SBO) is looking for coaches willing to make a commitment for the upcoming season.

Classic girls and boys coaches are needed for fifth through eighth grade. Recreational coaches are needed for girls and boys in third through eighth grade.

Coaching applications and background check forms are available online at www.eteamz.com/sherwoodbasketball. Both forms must be submitted for consideration. Forms should be mailed to Sherwood Basketball Organization at P.O. Box 1024, Sherwood OR 97140.

BASKETBALL REFEREES NEEDED FOR ALL GAMES

Referees for the Sherwood Basketball Organization are needed for all recreational games, grades three through eight. The majority of the games are played on Saturdays, with some weeknight games at the end of the season.
