Longtime East County resident Roselyn 'Rose' Hilda Thies, 77, died Thursday, July 27, in Portland.
Viewing will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 31, at Gresham Funeral Chapel, 257 S.E. Roberts Ave., Gresham.
A memorial service will be held at noon Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 8040 S.E. Woodstock Blvd., Portland. Private family interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland.
Rose was born July 8, 1929, in Nome, N.D., to Henry and Clara (Kruse) Larson. She was raised and educated on a farm in Hope, N.D.
On Nov. 2, 1947, Rose married Rudolf 'Rudy' Thies in Hope. They moved to East County in 1960. Rose worked as a waitress for Gresham Elks Lodge No. 1805 for 21 years. She retired in 1981.
She was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Portland for 45 years.
In 1998, Rose was preceded in death by her husband. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Cary Petshow in 1990; and great-granddaughter, Kyla McCullough in 2005.
Survivors include her daughters, Peg Petshow of Vancouver, Wash., and Becky Napier of Beaverton; son, Curt Thies of Portland; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Gresham Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
