Centennial scores winning run in the fifth inning
Centennial knocked off The Dalles 5-4 in an elimination game at the A American Legion state tournament Sunday in Grants Pass.
The Eagles scored the winning run in the fifth inning when Kevin Miller hit a line-drive past the shortstop to bring Mike Wilson in from third base. Centennial reliever Kenneth Clarke sealed the victory by not allowing a hit through the last two innings.
"It was win or go home, and everyone put it on the line today," Centennial manager Jake Austin said.
Centennial advances to play Roseburg in another elimination game Monday evening. Four teams remain in contention for the state title.
Additional coverage from the tournament will appear in Wednesday's edition of the Gresham Outlook.
